Rice Junky - Santa Clara (Korean Restaurant) Introduce
The vibrant culinary landscape of California, particularly within the greater Silicon Valley region, thrives on innovation and fusion, and Rice Junky - Santa Clara embodies this dynamic spirit perfectly. Positioned along the bustling El Camino Real, often considered Santa Clara’s own “Korea Town,” this establishment is far more than a typical Korean restaurant. It is a modern, trendy destination that expertly blends traditional Korean flavors with comforting, accessible formats, earning its classification as both a Korean and Fusion restaurant. The menu also draws on Japanese influences, particularly in its use of ramen and udon bases, creating a truly pan-Asian, comfort-food haven.
Rice Junky delivers an experience designed to mimic the popular 'pocha' (Korean pub) culture, which emphasizes shared, flavorful, and slightly addictive tapas-style dishes meant to be paired with drinks and enjoyed in a lively, communal setting. This is a place where the atmosphere is as much of a highlight as the food itself. The establishment is recognized for serving local specialties with a twist, making it a highly popular spot for both lunch and dinner crowds. Importantly, it has also become a go-to for solo dining and late-night cravings, offering a refreshing and much-needed alternative to the area's typical fast-casual options.
The core philosophy of Rice Junky, as reflected in its menu and reviews, is centered on providing high-quality, everyday good comfort food without unnecessary frills or a "snooty" ambiance. While the dishes may initially appear small compared to traditional Korean full-service restaurants, this intentional design encourages diners to sample a variety of high-caliber, perfectly seasoned dishes like their famous Korean fried chicken and creative ramen options. This focus on tapas-style sharing makes it an ideal spot for groups looking to graze and socialize.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If you want a genuine "pocha" experience - a Korean-style tapas plus drinks - look no further. Rice Junky provides a funky and fun decor and experience with no frills, no snooty, everyday good comfort food and drinks. This is a perfect place for hanging out with friends and others. Be ready to be part of a gaggle, be loud and fun. It's just a happy place! Now, Rice Junky has a wide variety of category of food but surprisingly is well controlled in not trying to do "everything". They dishes are positioned like tapas where the portions are surprisingly small, compared to regular Korean restaurants. But it's not done in an offensive way. It's just that you'll be surprised to see such small pajeon or chicken, etc. The initial impression of "cheap" prices thus quickly dissipates away. Now, to compensate, the quality of the food is in general top notch. Korean fried chicken here is magical, and a lot of the ramen and udon are also great. Having this caliber of food at a bar again is respectable. But again, who goes to Rice Junky to just eat? It's all about the drinks. So many different types of soju cocktails as well as a decent selection of pitchers. And again, each table houses 6 comfortably. You don't go to Rice Junky to eat by yourself. You go here because it's the weekend and you're going to have a great time.Go early. Waits can get brutal as tables seldom open up once the party begins. A great addition to El Camino Korea Town.
April 22 · Wook ChungSolid Korean pub-style food with all your usual favorites like seafood pancake, tteokbokki, and fried chicken! We also had the skewers and pork bulgogi bowl, nothing disappointed.Although the chestnut makgeolli was sold out, we tried the melon flavor instead and it was really nice! Think they added some fresh aloe in there and I love when places do this so it’s not just the same as a bottle I could buy from the market. And I especially love when it comes in the urns or teapots that make it feel more authentic or like something you would find in Korea. The little touches like this is fun!The service was really fast. You order from the table tablets which was convenient.
May 17 · Melinda NgCame here for lunch last November. It was a good experience. Food was fresh and good, Staff was friendly and helpful. Restroom was super clean, well stocked and thoughtful. I was totally impressed...Aesthetically decorated. Easy to order from an individual device installed on each table. Cozy and relaxing environment.
January 16 · DazeBeen to rice junkie multiple times for lunch as well as for dinner. The service is always quick and fast however I do not like the new digital menu that they have especially if you’re on the tables close to the wall.Their selection of sauces is always very interesting and I’m yet to try them all.The ambience is somewhere in between a fancy restaurant and a fast casual.Definitely get their corn and cheese combination either with the chicken or with the pork. Lunch for two with a drink and appetizer was $30 per person.
November 01 · Arul PeterDecided to try Rice Junky out off of Yelp! You order through your phone which isn't my preference..but oh well.2 of us ordered:- cc chicken pan dish (sweet and spicy) $15.99, chicken was quite good. Corn cheese in the picture made it look a lot bigger.-seafood pancake $12.99, good pancake, but it was a veggie one...no texture of any seafood present. Might have had some seafood taste? But maybe they sprinkled some powder. No squid, octopus, shrimp etc-crunch pork bowl $15.99, kimchi fried rice did not have much flavor. I did enjoy the pork quite a bit.Overall, food was good, but definitely had room for improvement.Parking is easy to find in the plaza.
