La Fondue is worth choosing for several compelling reasons, particularly for California residents valuing atmosphere, interaction, and gourmet quality in their dining experience. The main draw is undoubtedly the multi-course fondue experience. It's a meal designed to slow down the evening, creating an intentional, intimate space for conversation—a welcome contrast to the fast pace of modern life. The sheer breadth of the menu, from the customizable cheese fondue options to the array of entree meats cooked tableside, means every visit can feel like a new adventure.
Furthermore, the restaurant excels in catering to specific needs and desires. The positive feedback from vegetarians and those managing dietary needs, as well as parents of special needs children, underscores the staff's professionalism and willingness to accommodate. For instance, the server was patient and helpful with dietary restrictions, while another reviewer noted the ample space and family-friendly nature, making it a comfortable environment for children with autism.
While the service can occasionally be slow—a natural side effect of the deliberate, lengthy fondue process and the requirement for patient cooking—many patrons view this slower pace as an essential component of the romantic and engaging atmosphere. The emphasis is on lingering and savoring the moment, rather than rushing through the meal. The reward is a delicious and fully satisfying four-course meal that leaves a lasting impression, culminating in the popular and decadent chocolate fondue desserts.
For a date night, a landmark anniversary, or a unique group celebration in the California Bay Area, La Fondue offers more than just food; it offers a highly praised, romantic, and truly unforgettable dining event.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Being vegetarians and not too fond of cheese we had avoided this place for more than 2 decades. But so glad we finally decided to try it! Plenty of options for vegetarians and the service is amazing they cater to every need. Excellent fresh vegetables and the desert fondu was delicious. Now looking forward to our next visit to try a few other items on the menu.We had the stinking rose which was a little bland for us but then they suggested cayenne peppers with it 👍 The starter salad was excellent I had it with lemon tarragon dressing on the side. The grilled veggies and the dips to go with it just fantastic!! They even made a complimentary toast to celebrate Father’s Day.Note:-The dress code is casual at least when we were there we saw a lot of them in shorts and quite informal attire. This was one of the reasons we avoided this place earlier.-our son on the spectrum enjoyed the food and the place, they have plenty of tables so even though he is verbal autistic it was not disturbing anyone, so other parents don’t hesitate if this is one concern to take your special needs child there.- They do not have GF bread which I wish they will add to their menu soon🤞for those who have a dietary restriction.Elana was our waitress and she was patient, friendly and just amazing making sure we had a great experience keeping in mind all the dietary restrictions we had mentioned.Highly recommended for vegetarians(even those watching sugar levels) and for those who avoid such formal places because of a special needs requirements.
June 15 · Sandhya PrashantI didn’t expect my fiance and I to be here for almost 3.5 hours (mind you we eat fast) and we had plans elsewhere afterwards but had to cancel because of the painfully slow service. We arrived at 7:10 for our reservation, it initially started at 7 but parking was treacherous, not accounting that in this review (it is what it is). Right when our host was about to walk us down to our table, she actually dropped everything to show a guest who was joining another table to his seat. We then were brought to our seat where we waited almost 10 minutes for anybody to greet us. We chose the Le Freak course through groupon and had waited till 7:40 to even get a salad and water. The service was exceptionally slow and seems to be a lack of staffing but I’m guessing the atmosphere to others would be a distraction. Given we had places to be, that obviously did not turn out to be the case. I don’t mind waiting sometimes and don’t have as high expectations compared to my fiancé, but this was ridiculous to wait as long as we did.We scarfed down the salads, long wait for entree, water was being filled everywhere else but us as well. When entree finally came we did everything we could to try and get out at a reasonable time. Dumped all the seafood on the grill, then red meat, then chicken. All in all while the food was great for my first time here, this was absolutely not a good experience. So now we’re going home, it’s almost 11:00pm and our night ending here which was not what we expected.
August 13 · Julysil PaycoanMy favorite restaurant ever because the fondue is so delicious and made with quality ingredients. We live 3 hours away now and STILL drive back to go here. Great date night spot or for special occasions. Takes a few hours to enjoy the full meal experience. Oh, they also have great cocktails, and I always get a white chocolate mocha with the chocolate fondue. So yummy!
November 12 · Ginny WalkerMy boyfriend and I had a 6:00 reservation, but the evening got off to a rocky start. When we arrived, the two hosts at the front seemed either new or in training, and we were told there would be a wait because they didn’t have a server available yet. While we waited, we noticed other groups—including larger parties who arrived after us—were being seated first. After about 15 minutes of being overlooked, I finally spoke up, and only then were we shown to a table. Unfortunately, we were seated in a dark corner without so much as a word from the host, which made the experience feel awkward and frustrating. To make matters worse, our waiter seemed far more attentive and friendly to other tables that were seated after us, and even gave us a noticeable side glance that didn’t sit well. At that point, we asked to be relocated, as the experience already felt tainted. Thankfully, once we moved to a brighter area, things improved. A new server took over, service was much better, and we were even offered complimentary drinks as a way to make up for the rocky start. While the evening ended on a better note, the beginning was disappointing and not what I’d expect from such a long-standing Saratoga restaurant. For a place with La Fondue’s reputation, I expected more professionalism from the hosts and better hospitality at the start. Unfortunately, first impressions matter—and ours left a lot to be desired.
September 01 · Lana LevensonAwesome experience. The service was great. the food was amazing. I absolutely love their chefs salad with honey mustard dressing. We skipped alcohol for drinks and stuck with ice water. We enjoyed stinking rose cheese fondue, then grilled wild things for the main course and finally milk chocolate decadent fondue with treats for dipping. We had a wonderful meal, enjoyed conversation, and left with very full bellies. 5 stars!
