★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1As a native South Bay resident, and after 4 and a half decades of eating breakfast all over, I finally made time to try this place out. After hearing about it for so long, and having an idea of what to expect, this five star review is fitting….also, my faith in humanity was slightly restored during my visit…I’ll come back to that. Being decades old and an East San Jose staple, and with its name and decor, I made sure to order a side of gravy for my biscuits, and they weren’t bashful on the bowl of gravy….and the breakfast was tasty with plenty for leftovers…for me today it was the service that I experienced in a couple of cool ways that solidified 5stars. My direct service was friendly, swift and felt like home. The staff was attentive and courteous to say the least. Indirectly I was there to witness a young man who ordered and ate, and after packing his leftovers, asked if he could return in 30 minutes to pay for his meal. Reluctantly the staff said yes and collected his info as he left. While it easily could’ve been a straight up dine and ditch sitch, and the staff seemed to take the high road in allowing the fella to simply leave knowing it could be a loss, sure enough in less than 30 minutes the young man returned and paid in full. This alone contributed to my own feeling about humans and the intent we sometimes have. The feeling I had while watching the workers faces as the dude leaves was miserable (and I almost told them to add his meal to my bill), to my own internal warmth when the dude returned and was a person of their word…this was refreshing and reminded me that good folks are indeed out there. All because I visited a Bite of Wyoming…full belly, snack for later, and faith in humanity.
March 06 · Carl FoisyThis is a classic casual local diner. We had the Breakfast Special with biscuits & gravy, and the Chicken Fried Steak. Both were quite nice! The gravy was thick and flavorful (a little floury for my preference, but very well seasoned), the biscuits were warm & fluffy. Coffee was good, service was good. Completely unpretentious, straightforward good eats.
September 08 · Sandra GI used to love to come to this place but the food quality and taste is not it anymore. Service is still good and portions are still big. Also it was 72 degrees outside and when I was there it felt like I was in Florida. 🥵
September 15 · James RamirezThe bison steak tastes metallic so avoid it. The bison burger is really good but its not wrapped so content keeps spilling while I was eating. I'm just used to wrapped burger at Burger King. The fries are burnt but not crispy which is dissapointing. The servers are nice n friendly though.
May 03 · Lucy LamThis is an old school diner that has giant pillowy biscuits and keeps your coffee refilled often. I decided to try something different for breakfast and ordered the buffalo steak. I ordered it medium rare but I think it is hard to cook a steak that thin so it was more rare than medium and no char to speak of. But, that and the two eggs/hasbrowns, kept me well fueled for 7 hours! I took the giant biscuits home and reheated them for another couple meals so I feel like I had good value overall. Definitely would go back!
