Distrito Federal Introduce
In the bustling culinary scene of Campbell, a key city in the Silicon Valley region of California, Distrito Federal stands out as a unique and vibrant "Restaurant" specializing in what local patrons describe as "Elevated Mexican food." Located on the active E Campbell Avenue, this spot offers a dining experience that successfully marries the casual, lively spirit of Mexican street food with the refinement of contemporary American dining. The venue provides a "Casual" yet "Trendy" atmosphere that is often described as a "tequila centric pub," making it an ideal gathering spot for "Groups" and "Locals" alike.
The menu at Distrito Federal showcases a commitment to fresh, complex flavors across all categories. Appetizers offer traditional favorites like Guacamole and Mexican Street Corn, alongside more unique, upscale offerings such as Hamachi Shooters and Ceviche. Customers highly recommend the homemade chicharrones for dipping with the guacamole, proving the restaurant’s commitment to quality from the base ingredients up. The large menu extends to customizable options, including Ensaladas like the Mexican Chopped Salad, and a strong selection of Tostadas featuring toppings like Ahi Tuna and Roasted Cauliflower.
The core of the offering includes unique Tacos and large Entrees. Patrons rave about the variety and quality of the tacos, highlighting choices like the Pork Belly Tacos with tender meat, and the delicious Quesabirria. Entrees are hearty and sophisticated, including the shared Carne Molcajete, and main plates such as Tampique A Platter ($28.00) and Rib Eye Steak ($37.00). A customer review highlighted the high quality of the entrees, noting that the meats were "cooked perfectly (even the steak)," which can be a challenging feat for certain dishes.
Distrito Federal is also a destination for its superb bar program. The "Great cocktails" feature a lot of unique ingredients, including fresh juices and homemade chamoy. Signature drinks like In The Midnight Hour and the fun Violet, You're Turning Violet ensure a memorable bar experience. The drink menu is supported by a decent selection of Bottled Cerveza, wines, and of course, a strong focus on hard liquor to support its tequila-centric reputation. The food and drink quality are noted to come at a "bit higher price," but customers consistently agree that they are worth it for the elevated experience.

July 16 · itsallgooddm1 MaldonadoHad a late lunch here around 2pm on a Sunday. Would probably recommend a reservation at peak times, as it is a more cozy location. Have seen spot transition multiple times and this is a nice addition to DT Campbell. We had a group of 4 and we were able to walk-in and get a seat at the bar easily.Cute mood ambience and the bartenders were awesome! Super attentive and gave us great drink and food recommendations. The cocktails are fancy, with a lot of unique ingredients, like fresh juices and homemade chamoy. They also have a selection of decent Mexican beers. The food was really good! We got the guacamole which was pretty basic but opted for the homemade chicharrones to dip, which were amazing. Ordered the carne molcajete to share. Meats were cooked perfectly (even the steak), which can be hard with the pot overcooking. The pork belly tacos were also good - meat was tender. Friends ordered the enchiladas and the chile verde sauce was to die for. They also have homemade flour and corn tortillas, beans (3 different options) and rice which came with the entrees. It’s definitely elevated Mexican food at a bit higher price, but we all enjoyed it and will definitely go back. Hopefully they make it at this location!
July 14 · Jenny ChoiWent on a Wednesday around 5:30 pm. We were seated right away. The inside seating area is just one small room and many tables and the bar area were already taken. The outside patio has heaters and you can enjoy the downtown feels.Service was great! Our waitress was efficient and kind. The manager (assuming here) never stopped moving the whole evening. He was here and there and everywhere. Always making sure that everyone had what they needed, whether it was the staff or the patrons.I felt like the cocktails we got were just so-so; a little bland, but pretty. The al pastor street tacos were better once adding the lime included. The crispy fish tacos needed the lime also, in my opinion.Even though I'm only giving it a 3-star review, I think it has potential. It wasn't a bad experience at all. Perhaps if we would have sat outside and had different dishes it could have been a 4.
February 22 · Jessica Smits9/27/24Distrito did not disappoint tonight. Cocktails and food were on point as always. We felt the Lucid Dreams were just a scootch 'light' this time. Maybe it was a new batch that didn't have time to mature. It was still delicious but just a little light and not quite as full in the glass as usual. We're just happy to have it as an option! The Dulce De Leche Bread Pudding was tasty. It had a nice crispy exterior but it was a little watery. We think if they use maybe a thicker cream it will be stellar. It tasted like a churro. ❤️ We LOVE Distrito and we recommend them to everyone.-----------------------------------------7/27/24Consistency is a factor we really appreciate, and Distrito Federal does not disappoint! We have brought many people here, and all have loved it.Don't come here if you're in a hurry. They are not in a rush, and they want you to enjoy your meal without feeling like you need to leave. The cocktails are always beyond fabulous and so well-balanced that you don't even taste the alcohol. The food is DELICIOUS and always fresh!I had mentioned before, the kale salad needed a little stronger of a peanut dressing, and they came through like a champ! It's tasty, spicy, and full of flavor.I tried the roasted Cauliflower tostada's and they were sooooo good! I just had them two days ago and I'm already salivating to go back!Thank you Isaac and staff for always making the experience top notch!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------March 2024We arrived on Friday night without a reservation for 4 people and we were a little surprised at the 2 hour wait, but after trying to get in to other restaurants on the street, quickly realized it was a standard wait time. We are SO glad we waited!Distrito Federal is an absolute gem! It is small but MIGHTY! The cocktails are the best we've EVER had! If Lucid Dreams is ever removed from the menu, I think we will be physically ill! It's indescribable and the difficulty to craft it with the complexity of the brewing, fermentation, and purification is worth the wait (the cocktails take time to be delivered to the table), the money, and the chance you might be a bit tipsy after drinking it! It's the cleanest, smoothest, softest, most delicious blend of multiple different alcohols you'll ever taste. You CANNOT taste any alcohol. It is just lovely. The Cure for the Cause is ALSO FANTASTIC! It is so complex that you cannot identify the different flavors on your tongue at any given time. It is also a blend of multiple ingredients that are so balanced It's unreal. It's no wonder the Mixologist is award winning! They can also make wonderful mocktails if anyone in your group isn't drinking (too bad they are missing out in the real thing!). ;)Now, let's get to the food. I personally don't eat red meat or pork, nor can I eat cilantro so I was a bit of a complex customer for the chef. Most items are marinated in cilantro or it cannot be removed from the item so just know going in that it might be a little challenging to find an item but once you do it will be FABULOUS!We were all beyond satisfied with everything that was ordered and cannot wait to return! Everything was fresh, flavorful, crisp when it should be, soft when it should be, generous portions, and had the perfect amount of heat. The desserts were tasty as well but what stood out were the churros!!! DELICIOUS!!!Isaac is so personable and knowledgeable about the industry and the food he has created. He is a doll and makes you feel so welcome!! We truly loved our experience and can't wait to return. ❤️❤️❤️ Words for the wise, this is not really a place for children if you are able to get a sitter do so and enjoy! It's adult food and adult drinks and the space is very small so family night might be better elsewhere.
September 27 · Angie AndersonI’ve been coming to this place for a year now. The food and service are always great. Annabel has served us a few times, and she’s always so sweet and kind, making sure we’re well taken care of, like family.
