For San Jose locals and visitors, what makes Acopio genuinely worth choosing is its ability to deliver an elevated experience without sacrificing approachability.
The initial recommendation is to indulge in the fresh seafood appetizers. The Aguachile De Callo De Hacha or the Ostiónes En Su Concha are perfect starters, setting a refreshing and refined tone. Follow this with a main course from the Platos Calientes section, specifically the Pipián Verde Con Pato, which showcases the depth of flavor and culinary skill the restaurant is known for, or the Tacos De Carnitas De Pancita for an unforgettable elevated take on a Mexican classic.
The drink menu should not be overlooked. The bar staff is attentive and skilled, and ordering one of their signature Cócteles, like the Barrio Bananero or a classic Paloma, is essential to experiencing the full scope of Acopio’s offerings. The service—which is both attentive and "fast"—is a crucial factor, making the dining experience relaxing and enjoyable, a stark contrast to disappointing service sometimes found elsewhere.
Ultimately, choosing Acopio means supporting a local, women- and Latino-owned business that is dedicated to exceptional quality, inclusivity, and pushing the boundaries of Mexican-inspired dining in the Bay Area. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had Acopio bookmarked for months and nearly forgot about it when I was thinking hard about where to take a guest from out of town. Acopio looked very appealing, but I didn’t expect that a Mexican-fusion restaurant on the east side of San Jose would be Michelin-worthy. Acopio’s space is very well-kept and designed both festive and elegant. The service was attentive and clearly a point of pride, a stark contrast from my heartbreaking experience at True Laurel in SF last weekend where I waited for 30 minutes before a server came back to check on me.Each dish was artful, despite the simplicity of a dish such as Tacos Al Pastor, which consisted of pork confit, charred pineapple and fresh tortillas. The pork belly was marinated and seared to perfection. Together with a bit of tomatillo salsa, it was a unique elevated interpretation of Tacos Al Pastor that I’m already craving again. Each ingredient was meticulously marinated, charred and presented. The Tacos de Cachete was an interestingly textured dish, with pickled white onion pedals and beef cheek. A bit mushy but flavorful. The Coctel de Camarones had an unexpectedly familiar taste. Thai-style Tom Kha coconut and tomatillo broth with jicama and freshly peeled and de-veined prawns. Fantastic fusion dish. Finally, the chocolate churros and house-made Mexican chocolate ice cream also had a chili sauce on the ice cream with a nice kick to it.Can’t wait to try a few more items on the menu before making a more informed judgment on the place. But my first impression leads me to believe Acopio may be one of the finest restaurants in San Jose. It is a real gem that is doing Mexican fusion at the next level. Wholeheartedly recommend Acopio.
October 17 · Danny K (DSKO)Modern Mexican food well executed! The puristic interior design creates a pleasant atmosphere, and the service was super friendly and attentive. The food was very good and fairly priced. The chicken milanesa was tasty but leaned more Western than Mexican, while the shrimp starter was delicious (though a bit too large with too much salad). In both dishes, there were slightly too many raw vegetables for my taste, which made them feel less delicate. The highlight for me was the dessert with soft cake and cream... absolutely extraordinary! The Mexican sangria soda was also refreshing and tasty.Overall, a great experience. I’ll definitely return — next time for a more traditional Mexican dish like the mole or tacos. Highly recommended!
September 11 · Tamir BermannGreat twist on traditional Mexican food! Loved the roasted potatoes, they were very well done and crisp! Scallops, pork belly were amazing with textures and flavors.Desserts were exceptionally good especially the flan! Sooo good!
August 26 · Kangna NeelamI enjoyed every morsel I savored here. Everything from the choice and placement of plates to the layered complexity of flavors of the dishes were intentionally made and were inspired. …and reasonable prices! My new favorite restaurant in San Jose.
September 20 · Y NagashimaWe had dinner at the bar on a Friday night. This place is a great date spot! Lots of good cocktail and mocktail options. The guy at the bar recommended we stick to the happy hour menu for food which we did. We enjoyed the oysters, elote, potatoes, steak tacos and tres leches dessert. Service was perfect! I’d definitely come back.
